Context

In my astrological opinion, you should pay special attention to whatever’s embryonic in your life. You should rouse the smartest part of your capacity for love and direct it with high-beam intensity toward burgeoning possibilities that have recently germinated. There may come a time later in the process when you’ll need to impose discipline and order on your growing things, but that’s not what’s called for now. Be extravagant in your nurturing. Don’t scrimp on generosity and beneficence. Have fun overflowing with profusions of life-giving care.

Gee, what on earth could this be about? *batbatbat*

Doing the best I can, the best I can. You know how you stop looking at things because you see them every day in the same place and the impact amd import of why you have there recedes to the back of your memory. This morning I woke up, got dressed, and was putting on my jewelry. And I looked at my love bracelet as if it were new.

The bracelet says:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

The entire passage says:

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

Now, I am not a Christian and I do not know the Bible at all. I tried to read it a couple times and just couldn’t. It seems smart to know the folks who think you should die. Total snore fest. I’m sure it was just me not reading far enough as I know there are passages worth reading and I believe that every spiritual path has something profound to offer. I should probably get busy with the Song of Solomon.  Perhaps. But I have to say this entire passage is cool.

Love is the Law Love Under Will

This famous quote from Aleister Crowley tells me that Love must be the foundation of all I do and all I will. I used to think it meant he was putting Love second to my Will but eventually came to my own understanding that I felt was true.
The entire quote?

Do what thou wilt Is the whole of the Law.
Love is the Law, Love under Will.
Love and compassion must be the Foundation of Will.

Guess I was right. That last sentence? Folks don’t use it much.

Context is everything isn’t it?

Black Velvet

The photo of course does not do this garment justice.  The silk velvet and silk lining are like liquid in their drape and softness. This fits perfectly and is going to look awesome with jeans and boots. I *love* the way they extended the lining to create that cool red border.  It’s not attached at the hems but floats free.  Pretty awesome construction job.

I found the following photos on my camera.  I took them to play with closeup shots and thought what the heck, I’m showing my stuff I never show… This silver is generally what I wear on any given day.  The bracelets are always the same but the rings can vary.  The carnelian beauty is a recent, very cheap, purchase that I bought to bring in passionate love.  We’ll see how it works.  It’s at least an inch high, I just love the stone.

The large ring was made for me by a friend as a barter.  She made me the ring, I made her an embroidered pillow with medieval “illuminated” letters that spell LOVE surrounded by crazy quilt velvet.  Citrine stones.  I’ve had that one repaired twice, it is rather snaggy and has snapped in two twice.  The snake has a garnet and the smaller ring which nestles so nicely that it is mistaken as one large ring, has a blue moonstone.

Top to bottom:  a gift from my brother in 1980 on his first visit to Nepal, silver and turquoise with a big etched dragon on the inside. A gift from friend, she no longer wanted it, a very good Viking reproduction, it has large silver balls on the ends where it opens.  A gift from a friend, a guy I worked with who used to work for a jeweler, he gave me quite a silver stash from his hoard of treasure, peridot, garnet, citrine, amethyst stones.  The last bracelet a gift to myself from me after the breakup with The Forgiven, it is a simple viking/indonesian chain.  Knotted black leather cord.

A silver chain I bought to replace the stainless steel lightbulb pull that an ex gave me.  A gift from a friend when a relationship busted up and she didn’t want the reminder. And of course, my 50th birthday present to myself.  Last but not least, Love.
