6 Things To Know About Me

The guidelines. You know how I feel about rules.

1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

The person who tapped me on the shoulder, and said, “Tag!”: Thalia of Amused Grace.  This is going to be hard. One of my six is even one of Thalia’s six. I’m going to nab that one to get the ball rolling.

1. I can sit for hours just going through my boxes of beads, boxes of fabric, embroidery wools (some even dyed by me just like Thalia), all calling me for this or that project. It is in fact the first step in the design process for me much of the time.  Sometimes I see a bit of art or craft from someone else that gets me going and I know exactly what fibers/materials I’m going to use. But sometimes I’m looking for whatever it is that needs to get out into the world and I pull out everything from its stash spots (goodness I can hardly wait to have a studio where everything is already out) and just moon and drool over them.  Then I start saying, Hey you go with this and I never noticed before how cool this is with that.  Yeah.  Perfect rainy afternoon. It is my art that gets me into more trouble with money.  I know how rare certain things are to find so I buy them when I see them and sometimes I simply can’t afford it. But some time later, sometimes years, I am really glad I snagged it. Continue reading

Book Reviews and A New Day

Somehow I’ve attracted the notice of Red Wheel Books and their affiliates.  They have a large selection of Pagan and Wiccan titles, many of which are either old favorites or new interesting choices.  I have been invited to review as many books as I like and post the reviews on my blog, even if they aren’t glowing.  I intend to be fair and honest but kind.  I know how tender us writers/artists can be. They are sending the package out today.  And she loves my blog for its honesty and my handwork.  What an honor and heart boost.

I’ve received many kind comments and private emails in response to my post about money.  I cried as I read them.  Katherine, your Goddess of Love paragraph started the deluge.  Ahhhhhhhh.  And this morning I have no headache.  I allowed myself to do nothing work related yesterday, took a long nap, and read a mindless thriller.  I feel much better today.  One day at a time.  Thank you all so much.

Thank you Universe.  You catch me every time.

Happy Anniversary!

My brother and sister~in~law have been married 7 years today! That is wonderful and exciting news.

Their marriage was a blessing and a boon to our family. It has brought all of us so much joy, so many gifts. My nephew is top of the list but my brother’s happiness is right next to it.

My brother, you and I become closer as we grow older and I can’t tell you how much you mean to me. Your happiness is all I’ve ever wanted and I’m so very glad you have found it.

My sister, you have been such a gift, your warm giving loving heart make the world a better place. Mostly they make our family better, stronger, easier.

May you always be happy ma soeur et mon frere. J’taime.

Money and Change and One Day At A Time (ODAAT)

Better get yourself comfortable this might take awhile.

As Thalia of Amused Grace points out in a comment on this post, sometimes money does fall from the sky. It certainly can show up in places you never thought you’d see it. It has for me but I couldn’t prove it by how I feel. And that Puritan Work Ethic, well I just have to agree, it has never brought me any joy. That isn’t to say that I do not feel a sense of accomplishment and pleasure when I have done a really great job on something because I do. I love a job well done. I just don’t like folks telling me how I should actually do it.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the whole I. Bonewits money requests. While I have to agree it’s tacky and I would be more inclined to give money to someone I actually know for no apparent reason, this whole thing has brought up some interesting tangents.
