For years I began work on Books of Shadows. As an arty kind of gal I wanted to make one pretty. But as a witch, I’m simply not that active. I’d get the beginning pages going, things like laws and The Charge of the Goddess and the Wiccan Rede and then I’d stop. Because I didn’t do a lot of spell work, I don’t do a lot of divination, and I never put together my own sabbat and esbat rituals. I have 2 of these books which stopped before they got started.

My Own Work
After some thought, as much as I loved the image I was using for a masthead, I decided that it wasn’t right and that I should use my own images. I’m liking this…

A little project for a friend’s birthday. He be loving the black and red. Me, I love this juxtaposed against the quilt.
This isn’t finished, plan on more embroidery but wanted it as done as possible. One of the reasons I use some kind of bonding adhesive for my appliques is that when I embroider a motif down that isn’t bonded it tends to move a bit and that makes my pentagrams not point correctly. But I only found out his birthday three days ago and it’s in a week. So decided to leave it as is and hope he’s glad for the obvious handmadeness of it all. There shall be color in the corners etc…
I love this cotton print…
The New Studio
I’m back! It seems that the exhaustion and depression that has engulfed me the last two months is over. I’m busy, not at a paying job, but keeping busy none the less. Applying for as many jobs as I can find that I qualify for, making Yule gifties, getting my house, literally, in order.
And the best thing about this new situation? Is the studio room. It isn’t big but it is all mine. With built in shelves galore, a hardwood floor, and two small but ample windows, I’m in heaven. I found yesterday that my hunch that creating would be so much easier if I didn’t have to dig everything out from storage or hiding every time I wanted to use it was true. I did all kinds of things yesterday. Which I will show you this week but today I want to show off my room.
This was my studio before. Yes, the coffee table. That was it.
