Goodness

Wish I felt better.  I’ve a couple good days since my move but I’ve had a migraine, tiredness, and body aches the rest of the time.  Moving just does me in.  Kicks my butt.

I’m trying to keep up but I’m just glad to wake up with a headache instead of a migraine. So not getting much done on the computer.  Bleah.  Don’t give up on me.

Thanksgiving was again lovely this year although we missed the French contingent very much.  All the relatives are in their 80’s now, I’m the only one of the next generation down that attends.  It makes me sad.  I think of my cousin who lives locally who always finds a reason not to come.  I wonder how he will feel when they are gone and there are no more opportunities to say, “You know, you’re weird but I love you any way.”  At least we aren’t all getting drunk and fighting at the holidays.  We never have.  Me?  I had a great time even with a migraine.

I’ve got a lot of unpacking done but the entire kitchen has to be dealt with at some point here.  And the studio.  I need to finish things for Christmas presents so that I can get them shipped off to France.  Luckily the French folk are going to Egypt for the holiday and I have until the 31st to get it to them.  *whew*

Otherwise I’m laying low.  I haven’t heard a word on the job I interviewed for last Friday.  He said he was making a decision yesterday.  He’s in a hurry.  Which is cool.  I know that no news is good news at this point as he personally wrote the 45 people he decided not to interview.  So I know he’ll let me know.  I guess I’m still in the running.  I hope he didn’t have a family emergency.  He’d be a great boss.

I hear some time this week about the results of my Tuesday interview for a different part time job.  I would love to have 2 part time jobs through the winter to take care of the extra heating expenses.

At any rate, not much to report.  Today is a middling day.  Not feeling great but not feeling crappy either.

I have a party this weekend, one on the 20th, one on the 27th, and one on the 31st, plus the family stuff.  It’s going to be a very busy December I hope.

Quickie Update

omg.  I am almost never online these days.  Have a little time right now while I wait for a potential client meeting.  Splitting headache too.  Sheesh, the headaches returned after I moved and while I had a few days respite after my acupuncture, I think I need another session.  The weather has been all over the map and I figure it’s partly barometric pressue and partly stress.  Still looking for a solid job.  Interview tomorrow but it won’t be enough.  Not at this rate.  So yeah, stress.

Let’s see.

  • On the 10th I go to the full moon to see how I fit in with the coven.  The other fellow withdrew for the year so it’s just me.  I might get an answer sooner.
  • Miss Mitty and the other kitty, Sophie, have met and are calling their lawyers as a friend says.
  • Studio is organized except for the fabric is still in boxes but that went pretty quickly which means…
  • I need to get busy for Yule.  It will be a very light present year this year, which is probably a good thing but I wish I could do more.
  • Sleeping better
  • Eating better
  • Gas is cheaper (I’ve got serious mixed feelings about that)
  • I got through the M’s on my blog roll, woefully behind reading about you all.  Soon.
  • Life is good

I’m in good shape for the interview tomorrow.  Crossing my fingers that I’ll have at least a 4 month part time job asap.  I’d like more so I could get medical prescription benefits as my migraine meds are $200 for 9.  OMG.

I know it’s coming but goodness…

I Survived

I had the fabulous luck to have 5 people help me move out and 6 people move in.  On Friday night I was talking to one of the maybe guys, he said he could, and his friend who I know better actually, said, what? you didn’t ask me??  So he came too.  Include my friend R and her husband and we were in good shape indeed.  We were out of the old place in an hour and into the new place in an hour.  Include travel and it took all of 2 hours and 15 minutes for them.  And there was lots of laughter.  The U-Haul guy was stunned.  I got a 17′ foot truck. Everyone was all, dang that’s a big truck.  And I said yeah, I got a lot of stuff.  In that little place? pshaw!  Packed to the gills.  Over 50 boxes.

I had 3 more trips with my car, 2 with a friends car, and 1 with my mother’s car. Luckily the car trips happened in sync.  My mother the 80 year old amazing woman hefted a station wagon worth of cedar firewood for me.  It was that or leave it behind.

Then I had to clean.  But I was done with that by 6pm. The place looked great, the landlord wrote today and told me thank you so much for cleaning so thoroughly.  Sanded the walls even after spackling. If she only knew I caulked the tub and touched up the varnish on the heart of pine wainscoting she’d give me a medal.

Sunday I was next to useless.  Migraine city, body aches, felt like a total slug.  Fibromyalgia reared its ugly head.  Didn’t get much done at all.  Took lots of pain meds which helped only sort of.  Disappointing since they were pretty strong.

Didn’t sleep well Sat or Sun, always takes me a bit to get used to a new place sleep wise.

Miss Mitty is here.  She is eating, hanging out with me, and just used her new litter box, all of which makes me very happy. Except that she spewed litter all over the carpet. *sigh*  No rest for the weary.

I have a job interview this week (at least it should be this week) for that part time job I applied for.  They said they love my resume and found it very interesting and intriguing.  This would be a coup, fingers crossed.

Have a couple maybe clients lined up too.  Maybe I’ll have one or both signed up by month’s end.  That would rock for Christmas.  Extra cool if I got the part time job too. More fingers crossed and a couple toes.

Got more done today, boxes are sorted into organized piles so I can go room by room.  I can’t believe how many boxes are going into the studio.  I’m worried I won’t have enough room.  Will still have to store a few things.  OMG.  But that is the one place where cutting back would be a mistake.  C’est la vie d’un artiste.

Off to bed.  I think I’ll sleep well tonight.  Yes indeed.

The Winners Are….

Congratulations!  The contest turned out to be an amazing idea.  It was easy to determine the winners.  So many wonderful answers. Thank you all so much!  But the top three are…

1st Place Thalia Took of Amused Grace – She was the first person to say that Photo #1 was a horse.  Now I’m cheating a little bit here.  NO ONE saw what I saw.  What I saw, immediately, was a Bull, the Bull of Mithras to be exact.  But then I thought, hmmm, maybe it’s a horse. Since two people saw my second thought on that image I went with horse for the winner.   But for me?  It is a bull.  At Hekate’s Night I was given a xeroxed compilation of many Greek and Roman odes to Hekate.  And in them they call the bull, the bull of Mithras, and Hermes bull.  Yes, Bull it is.

2nd Place – Katherine Barich – She saw Hathor in Photo #4 and there is no doubt about it.  I saw Hathor’s crown of the horns of the moon with the full moon between but didn’t see the face.  I knew that photo was talking to me but it took Katherine to point Hathor out.  Undeniably there.

3rd PlaceTurtleheart – Made me laugh my ass off with the insect with the Wonder Bread Sandwich in Photo #1.  A few people saw insects but I just didn’t and still don’t.  But man, this cracked me up.

Honorable Mention – My bro got the second huge guffaw from me as he and I walked through each photo imagining that I’d just taken a huge bong toke.  And while it rivaled Turtleheart for a hearty laugh fest, my bro gets stuff from me and always will but he deserved commentary.

Prizes: Please look over the prizes at my Esty Store and send me a comment with your choice.   I will respond via email to the email address that comes with your comment notification requesting your mailing address.  I will mail it next week when the dust settles from my move.  1st place any pouch, 2nd place any earrings, third place my choice to you from my other stash, tis a surprise.

What I saw:

Photo #1 – A bull

Photo #2 – a spirit being with the strangest hands ever

Photo #3 – a witch on a broom with a really tall hat and a pale skull behind my head

Photo #4 – horns of the moon with a full moon and now Hathor

Photo #5 – horse and rider

Photo #6 – angel

Photo #7 – not a darned thing

Photo #8 – a veiled woman with her chin in her hand thinking

Photo #8 – angelic being, jesus?

Photo #10 – imp

One of my duties as a priestess

squirrel

About once a year, Hecate and the Morrigan require my services as a priestess of the dead. Today it was for a neighborhood squirrel. I found her dead in the road, hit in the last 20 minutes is my guess. I stopped the car, put on my gloves, lifted her surprisingly warm but stiff body from the wet concrete as the blood poured out of her nose, and placed her still beautiful body on the verge in the soft grass. Morrigan’s crows called out to their brothers and sisters that there had been a passing. I blessed her, wrapped her tail around her, caressed her, and left.

May she never hunger, may she never thirst.
